SUMMARY:R01\, R21\, and R03 NIH Funding Opportunities: Pros and Cons (11/20 3-4pm EST)
DESCRIPTION:The R01\, R21 and R03 are the three most common NIH Research Project Grants (RPGs). The R01 is considered the “gold standard” of NIH grants. The small R03 and exploratory/developmental R21 grants should not be considered as “mini-R01s” but rather serve a specific purpose for investigators. Our presenter has had multiple R01 and R21 grants and extensive experience reviewing these types of grant applications and will provide: \n\nA basic overview of the R01\, R21 and R03 funding opportunities\, including the difference between Parent Announcements (investigator-initiated) and Program Announcements/Request for Applications (PAs/RFAs).\nImportant differences between the R01\, R21 and R03 funding opportunities.\nWhether the R01\, R21 or R03 is the right funding opportunity for your project.\n\nWed\, November 20\, 3:00-4:00 PM Eastern\n60-min plus live Q&A \nREGISTER HERE!

SUMMARY:INBRE Virtual Network presentation
DESCRIPTION:You are welcome to attend (via Zoom) the first INBRE Virtual Network presentation hosted by INBRE at ISU. \nSpeaker: Dr. Mihail Mitov\, Asst. Professor Biology\, Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine\, Meridian\, ED \nTopic: Molecular determinants of muscle cellular biomechanics and bioenergetics \nDate: November 8\, 2022\nTime: 4:00 pm Mountain\, 3:00 pm Pacific\nPlace: Zoom\nMeeting ID: 864 9771 0964\nPasscode: 460005 \nMore info: This presentation will overview some of the know molecular factors that affect the muscle’s cellular biomechanics and bioenergetics. The main focus will be on the contributors to active and passive muscle tension or stiffness. Additionally\, I will address some of the factors of cellular bioenergetics that could affect muscle health or disease (will use the doxorubicin cardiomyopathy as a way to address the role of oxidative stress\, oxidative phosphorylation\, and glycolysis). I will address some of the current gaps in research capabilities that we face in Idaho and how could improve muscle biology research through institutional collaborations. My goal is to present what might be possible and seek new collaborators that could help the creation of new project lines. \n
