Want to get your data published but don’t know where to start?
The Cell Biology Education Consortium (CBEC) is hosting a virtual summer writing workshop designed to help faculty write up their data for publication as short communications. This format is ideal for smaller data sets, offering a path to peer-reviewed, PubMed-listed journals recognized by NSF and NIH. The workshop will meet weekly for one hour over four sessions, running from June 23 to July 14.
Who should attend?
Everyone is welcome to participate. There is no application process. This interactive workshop will require faculty engagement. Participants must be willing to complete assignments and attend at least three of the four workshop meetings to get the most out of the experience.
The CBEC will cover the publication fees for faculty submitting papers to the journal microPublication Biology.
What you’ll gain
Step-by-step guidance on writing micropublications (structure, data presentation, and concise reporting)
Strategies for including undergraduate contributors (authorship, ethics, mentorship)
Practical editing, figure preparation, and submission tips to accelerate peer review
One-on-one mentoring time with experienced faculty editors and CBEC staff
A draft-ready micropublication and actionable next steps by the end of the workshop
