Job Description
The Department Chair for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences (BPSCI) serves as a senior administrator responsible for managing, organizing, and coordinating all departmental activities. This includes overseeing operations, finances, faculty workload, faculty development and evaluation, and building and sustaining external relationships with stakeholders and partners. The Chair provides strategic leadership to develop and implement departmental goals in research, teaching, and graduate education. They advocate for essential resources, foster collaborative partnerships, and contribute to the advancement of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences while promoting the department’s reputation at the university, state, regional, and national levels.
The Chair works closely with the College administration to support programs, manage facilities, oversee curriculum, and address student recruitment, admissions, success, support, progressions, program assessment, and accreditation, aligning departmental efforts with the broader mission and goals of the College. The Chair supports faculty, staff, and students by cultivating an environment that prioritizes teamwork, professional development, and leadership opportunities. Additionally, the Chair oversees laboratory resources and assignments, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance and proper maintenance. To ensure effective departmental operations, the Chair may appoint members to specific administrative roles in alignment with departmental bylaws, providing equal opportunities for leadership development.
