BRIDGE FUNDING to an R01

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Idaho INBRE Program is accepting applications from University of Idaho (UI) faculty to support UI faculty members that submitted a favorably-scored R01 proposal to the National Institutes of Health, but missed the pay line. The INBRE monies are to be utilized to fund the laboratory for up to one year for the purpose of strengthening the R01 proposal for resubmission.  The funding period will be July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

AMOUNT OF AWARD: 
The awardee will be funded up to $50,000.  The number of applications awarded will be dependent on the availability of funds and the quality of applications.

ELIGIBILITY:
An applicant must be a faculty member at the UI with a favorably-scored R01 proposal that missed the pay line.  The applicant’s biomedical research must be within the Idaho INBRE’s broad scientific theme of “cell signaling".  Approved research assurance protocols must be in place prior to receiving funding.

HOW TO APPLY:
Please provide the following information to Leslie Thompson, Statewide Program Manager at lesliet@uidaho.edu no later than
May 1, 2012

1. One-page letter of application that includes the following information:

  • PI name
  • Outline of bridge-funding needs
  • Timeline to resubmit the R01 proposal to NIH.

2. 250 word abstract of your R01 proposal 

3. Current Biosketch for the PI and post-doc.

4.  Budget with justification (please use PHS 398 Budget Form and Continuation Page)

5.  R01 Review Comments

6.  NIH Score on the R01 proposal

7. INBRE Assurance Form

REVIEW CRITERIA:
Grant applications will be reviewed and considered based on the potential for R01 funding.  Applications will be externally evaluated and all applicants will be notified of the award decision.
